The Committee discussed the question of providing relief for destitute persons and it was considered that further economy should be exercised in the application of Government funds for this purpose. The Committee recommends that subhead 6 "Relief of Destitute Persons" should be roduced from $1,500,000 to $1,000,000.

The not effect of the so proposals is to increase the expenditure under this head from $12,113,010 to $12,523,646.
Head 20. Miscellaneous Servicos
The Committee recommends the inclusion of a grant to Lingnan University of $30,000 which increases the expenditure under this hoad from $30,317,828 to $30,347,828.
Head 24. Press Relations Office
The Committee recommends that the style and title of this office should be changed to Public Relations Office in accordance with general Colonial practice.
Certain minor
adjustments in staff are recommended which increase the expenditure under this head from $47,840 to $53,720.
Hoad 25. Prisons Department
The Committee recommends the deletion of $6,600 provided under subhead 13 "Photography". Alternative arrangements have been made with the Police Department.
The Committee recommends increases in the establishment of temporary Portuguese and Chinese warders to staff the new Reformatory and to provide additional staff for Stanley Prison in view of the number of recent escapes.
The increase of expenditure under this head would be from $2,200,458 to $2,201,618. Head 27. Public Works Department
The Committee recommends certain minor changes which result in an increase in expenditure under this subhead from $2,797,482 to $2,798,202.
